This article highlights how everyday tech from CD and Blu-ray players can be “hacked” and repurposed for advanced science—like Loretta’s HS-DAFM. Traditional AFM systems are expensive, bulky, and complex, but our sustainable approach creates affordable, compact, user-friendly tools ideal for education, small labs, and medical diagnostics. By upcycling mass-produced components, we enable breakthroughs in cosmetic testing and precision medicine, proving eco-friendly innovation can drive real-world impact.
